Rangers have successfully finalized the signing of Cyriel Dessers, the talented Nigerian striker, from Cremonese.
Cyriel Dessers has officially signed a four-year contract with Rangers, after transferring from US Cremonese. The undisclosed fee for his transfer is still subject to international clearance. The 28-year-old striker, who hails from Belgium, is set to join the club for the upcoming 2023/24 season, making him the sixth signing for Rangers during this summer's transfer window.
Dessers is an experienced forward who has played in several prominent European leagues. He spent the previous season in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football. Additionally, he has gained valuable experience in the Belgian Pro-League with OH Leuven, Lokeren, and Genk. He has also played at the highest level of Dutch football, representing Utrecht, Heracles Almelo, and Feyenoord.
During his time at Feyenoord in the 2021/22 season, Dessers stood out as the top goalscorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League, netting 10 goals. This achievement earned him a spot in the competition's team of the season. In light of his move to Rangers, Dessers expressed his happiness and relief, emphasizing the challenges he faced during the transfer process.
Manager Michael Beale expressed his delight at acquiring Dessers, highlighting the player's extensive experience in Holland, Belgium, and Italy, as well as his participation in European competitions.
