The Liverpool star became the most expensive defender in the world when he joined the Reds from Southampton a few seasons ago, but has proven its value very quickly.

He broke through last season, and brought Liverpool to the runner-up position of the Premier League, and made his colleagues good enough to see them lift the UCL 2019 trophy.

The 28-year-old Dutchman was at the heart of everything when the Reds won their sixth European Cup and was named the best player after his brilliant performance in Madrid. Van Dijk also scored important goals on the way to the final.
