Spanish nightclub complex fire claims seven lives, and the death toll may increase (video).

A nightclub complex in the southeastern Spanish city of Murcia experienced a tragic fire early this morning, resulting in the loss of at least seven lives.

The initial fire erupted at Teatre nightclub, located in the Atalayas area, at approximately 06:00 local time on Sunday, October 1. Reports from local media indicate that the nearby venues, Golden and Fonda, were also affected as the flames rapidly spread.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and witnesses have expressed concern about at least eight individuals they have been unable to contact since the fire broke out. Authorities have cautioned that the death toll may increase.

Footage released by Murcia's fire service shows firefighters diligently working to contain the flames within the nightclub. The fire has caused significant damage to the nightclub's roof, as shown in the footage.

Murcia Mayor Jose Ballesta provided an update, confirming that the number of casualties inside the Atalayas nightclub has reached seven. Speaking on Spanish TV channel 24h, he expressed deep sadness and explained that rescue teams continue their efforts to locate several missing individuals.

Ballesta further revealed that the fire began around 6 a.m. and has since been brought under control. Emergency services are actively investigating the cause of the tragic blaze.

In addition to the fatalities, four individuals have been hospitalized and treated for smoke inhalation.
