Christine Baumgartner, the ex-wife of Kevin Costner, has rejected his proposed monthly child support payment of $52,000, considering it to be unsuitable. As the couple goes through divorce proceedings, Baumgartner is reportedly seeking $248,000 per month in child support. Additionally, she has not vacated their shared beachfront home in California, which Costner alleges violates their pre-nuptial agreement. Previous reports mentioned that Costner initially offered $38,000, but has now increased the offer. However, Baumgartner claims that Costner spends $240,000 per month on himself and the children when they are with him.
According to recently revealed court documents seen by
TMZ, Christine Baumgartner, a handbag designer, expressed that Kevin Costner's new child support offer was significantly lower than the alleged $65,000 he receives monthly from renting out a guest house on his property. Baumgartner argued that the proposed amount was inadequate to sustain the lifestyle their three teenage children are accustomed to, mentioning their familiarity with beachfront living and residing in a gated community. Costner's attorney responded, stating that the actor has been covering all the children's expenses since their separation and will continue to do so.
Baumgartner asserted that their current lifestyle necessitates a team of staff, including assistants for household chores and grocery shopping. She stated that the higher amount she is requesting is also required to cover expenses such as utilities and bills.
She reportedly mentioned that she would vacate the shared home by August 31 if Costner provides additional financial support as determined by the court. Costner, referencing their pre-nuptial agreement, claimed that she was obligated to leave within 30 days of filing for divorce, which she did in early May.
However, a judge recently ordered her to move out by July 31. While Costner was reportedly "relieved" by the ruling, Baumgartner's legal team argued that she lacks sufficient time and resources to find a new residence. They have requested an extension of the deadline until August 15.
