Xenophobia: FG Faults Fake Videos In Circulation
On Thursday the federal government warned Nigerians about the misrepresentation of some of the Nigerians who have been said to have suffered xenophobiic assaults in South Africa. The videos have been distributed.
Three of those videos, which were taken from various events not involving Nigerians, were mentioned.
In the press conference in Abuja, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said so.
Mohammed encouraged the circulators of the incorrect videos to withdraw because such acts could cause further disaster.
He also encouraged leaders of view and celebrities to look at their words.
He urged Nigerians to stop taking represalies, he said they were justifiably upset.
The Minister also ensured that the government implemented adequate security measures, to ensure the security of the life and property of the country, both Nigerians and foreigners.
He guaranteed that all stakeholders would arrest and prosecute those who plundered property in the guise of demonstrations.
