Breaking: Bad news for Nigerian football: Samson Siasia banned by FIFA FOR LIFE!
This is a very bad news for Nigerian football as former super eagles stricker Samson Siasia is banned by FIFA FOR LIFE for allegedly receiving bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches in violation of the FIFA code of ethics.
Nigeria's former coach Samson Siasia was suspended for life and fined $ 50,000 by FIFA for accepting "match manipulation." Siasia was coach of Nigeria between 2010-2011 and for a period in 2016, but the period in which Fifa believes he committed his infractions is unclear. He has also served as coach of the U-20 and U-23 teams in the country. In a statement, Siasia was found "guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the handling of matches." The penalty is derived from an ongoing 'large-scale investigation' that FIFA is conducting in the conduct of Wilson Raj Perumal, a convicted reviewer from Singapore. He is the third African to be banned by FIFA for his ties to Perumal after former Sierra Leone FA official Abu Bakarr Kabba and former Botswana FA official Mooketsi Kgotlele were suspended in July for five years and for life, respectively. Siasia, a former international, won the 1994 African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
