Us impose visa restrictions on Nigeria’s 2019 election riggers
The United States has imposed visa restrictions on some
Nigerians who undermined the democratic process in the country in the course of
the 2019 elections.
Buhari and Trump It would be recalled that President Muhammadu
Buhari gained a 2nd term in office in February in an election characterized by
logistical problems, violence, and killings. The department, however, did not
list the names of the men and women or say how many had been affected by the
visa ban, but it definitely pointed out that it was once for those who
undermined the process
A spokesman for the US Department of State, Morgan Ortagus,
disclosed this in an assertion on Tuesday.
Mr. Ortagus explained that the visa restrictions would affect
Nigerians indicted for electoral violence, rigging and other anti-democratic
activities before, for the duration of and after the 2019 elections.
He stated the US had previously warned in its statement on
January 24 about consequences for such moves which would consist of visa
restrictions.
