Heartbreak for super eagles, as algeria reaches final

Manchester city and Algeria forward Riyad Mahrez's gorgeous place kick in stoppage time gave Algeria a 2-1 win over Nigeria in a very tense Cup semi on Sunday.
Algeria dominated the first half and may have had quite a 1-0 result to show for it, courtesy of a William Troost Ekong goal. Nigeria equalized suddenly halfway through the second half of with a penalty for handball and became scored via Odion Ighalo, his fourth goal of the tournament, once a VAR review.

In Algeria's initial serious attack, Akpeyi dived to prevent a cross missed and the ball bounced into striker Bounedjah's hip at the far post, however, it rebounded wide.
He then made a hash of punching clear a Mahrez cross and Ismail Bennacer's goal-bound shot was blocked by a defender.
The first goal came when Mahrez got free on the right and crossed into the center where the ball hit Troost Ekong and flew into the net.
Nigeria saw a lot of of the ball after the first half -- presumably as a result of Algeria falling back -- however ne'er very vulnerable till they were two-handed a lifeline by VAR
Oghenekaro Etebo's shot seemed to hit Aissa Mandi's hand however, the referee waved play on till a break in play, he consulted the video officers and pointed to the spot.
Nearly four minutes once the incident, Igahlo sent goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi the wrong way
The game appeared headed for extra time till a late flurry by Algeria saw Bennacer rattle the bar with a long-range drive and also the outcome seemed virtually inevitable after they won a place kick on the sting of the realm and Mahrez stepped up to strike the winner.
