Tinubu warns against annulling election over FCT votes, citing potential chaos.

President Bola Tinubu cautions against nullifying the election due to his failure to secure 25% of the votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), warning of potential chaos and anarchy.

Tinubu's lawyers argue that overturning his victory based on this reason would lead to absurdity and go against the legislative intent.

They highlight previous court decisions that adopted a purposeful approach to interpreting the constitution. The lawyers contend that even if there was no election in one state or if the election in a state is voided, it does not warrant voiding or canceling the entire election.

They emphasize that residents of the FCT do not have special voting rights over residents of other states. Ultimately, they urge the court to rule in favor of the respondent, Tinubu, and against the petitioners.
