Labour Party responds to Tinubu: No chaos when APC took power, none if removed.

The Labour Party (LP) has responded to Bola Tinubu's request for the presidential election petition tribunal to dismiss the party's petition seeking to nullify Tinubu's victory in the 2023 elections. The LP argues that if there was no chaos or anarchy when the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu assumed power, there would be no such consequences if Tinubu is removed from office.

Tinubu's lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), argued in a final written address that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should be considered the 37th state for electoral purposes. He claimed that any other interpretation would lead to absurdity, chaos, and anarchy, and undermine the legislative intent.

In response, the LP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, stated that Tinubu's remarks were unnecessary as the matter is already before the court. The party emphasized that the processes and requirements set by the law must be followed, regardless of any threats from the APC.

The LP firmly asserts that no amount of intimidation by the APC towards the tribunal judges can alter the established legal procedures. The party maintains that if there were no absurdity, chaos, or anarchy when the APC came into power, Nigeria will still experience peace when they are eventually removed from power.

The statement from the LP underscores their commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that the legal processes surrounding the election petition are respected. They remain resolute in their belief that justice will be served according to the provisions of the law.
