A woman tragically falls and loses her life from a height of 100ft shortly after accepting her partner's marriage proposal.

Shortly after her boyfriend, Nizamettin Gursu, proposed to her on July 6, a newly engaged woman named Yesim Demir, aged 39, tragically fell to her death from a cliff. The couple was enjoying a romantic moment at a cliffside spot in Turkey, savoring the sunset after the proposal.

While Gursu went back to the car to fetch food and drinks to celebrate, he heard a horrifying scream. Rushing back to the spot, he discovered that his fiancée had fallen approximately 104 feet from the cliff's edge. Despite calling for help and 45 minutes of resuscitation efforts, Yesim Demir was declared dead by the medics. Friends of the deceased informed local media that the cliff, located in Polente Cape, Canakkale, was a popular spot for people to admire the breathtaking view, but unfortunately, there were no safety measures in place.

‘This is a place where everyone comes and watches the sunset,’ they said. ‘However, the roads are very bad and there is no precaution on the edge of the cliff. A fence should be drawn here, precautions should be taken.’

Gursu told local media:

‘We chose it to have a romantic memory after the proposal. We drank some alcohol.

‘Everything happened at once. She lost her balance and fell down.’

Following the incident, the authorities immediately closed off the area and launched an investigation, with access to the cliff restricted until July 15, when controlled entry was permitted once more.
