Are We Ready For A Third Force?

The 2023 Election is fast approaching in our country Nigeria and as usual, these elections kick start with primaries where the candidate(s) that will be voted for in the 2023 main elections will emerged from. APC and PDP started their primaries May 2022 to conclude on June 3rd 2022.

House of assembly, House of Representatives, Governors, Senators candidates have all emerged. The PDP had their presidential primaries on the 28th of May 2022 and Atiku Abubakar emerged.

The results as stated below....

Atiku Abubakar – 371

Nyesom Wike- 237

Bukola Saraki – 70

Udom Emmanuel – 38

Bala Mohammed – 20

Pius Anyim – 14

Sam Ohabunwa – 1

Olivia Tariela – 1

There were 12 void votes

Nyesom Wike came close, but in primary election, it's the winner who matters as this is not a beauty pageant where there are runner ups.

APC has moved theirs to June 3rd and we patiently await who will be the presidential candidate for 2023.Peter Obi, was a presidential candidate in PDP but left few days to the primaries and joined the Labour Party.

These has been on everyone's lips, wondering why he made such a decision. In so many people's opinion, Labour Party has no structure and won't be able to produce a president. That's brings me to my question, are we as a nation, ready for a third force? Why do we think that it is only PDP and APC that can win the presidential election in Nigeria. Does that mean our votes don't count? why then do we vote.

So many people argue that people rarely vote for candidates, but rather for political parties and I find that hard to believe, because in the past, I have voted for people across parties, I was more interested in the candidate. This 2023 election is important to all of us and it is important to vote in a servant leader, a person who genuinely loves Nigeria, and not someone who is power drunk and wants power just for the sake of it. Our country has been on the edge for as long as I can remember.

Insecurities has been the major and biggest challenges faced by Nigerians. Kidnapping has been on the rise, inflation, food is now too expensive, as I doubt if a common man can afford three square meals a day.

Nigeria is in dire need for a change, to avoid the Nation from falling into pieces. So we need to look within ourselves and vote for a candidate in 2023 that wants a new and better Nigeria as much as we do.

Let's us put sentiments aside. A lot of things that makes we wonder if Nigerians are ready for a third force is the fact that we still put tribe, religion first before any other thing.

When I asked few persons why they want a particular candidate to rule Nigeria, many of them had no real reason to say, some just said it's because he has to rule, he has tried and has been contesting for so long, let's just give him. Another said it's because he formed the ruling party and deserves to win the presidential election and i wonder, is that enough reason to vote in a person? We need a leader with conscience, a leader who understands our pains and sufferings, we need a true leader, who will stop Nigeria from sinking any further. If we find such a leader in a political party that is not popular, we can collectively make it popular by standing by the candidate. Let us put Nigeria first before our greed and interests, let us think about our future and the future of our children. Together, we can make Nigeria great again.

As at Today, Exchange rate is at N610 to a 1$ hmmmm. Something needs to be done about this and fast. Think about this.
