Lionheart disqualified from the Oscar race, drops to 92nd
Nigeria's Lionheart was disqualified from the Oscar race in the Best International Feature Film category, bringing the number to 92 out of 93 entries competing for the award.
On Monday the Academy revealed that Genevieve Nnaji's Lionheart had been disqualified via email by voters of the category
On 2 October, the Nigerian Selection Committee (NOSC) chose the movie, which was Nigeria's first-ever film submitted to the Oscars. However, following viewing the movie, the Executive Committee of the Academy of International Feature Film Awards stated that the entries in the category must be "a predominantly non-English Dialog track." A place on the roster of applicants was refused over questions concerning the validity of the Afghan panel is proposed.
