Court grants Atiku’s lawyer, son-in-law N20m bail each

The Federal High Court in Lagos has given a guarantee of N20 million to the old lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, from the presidential candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Judge Nicholas Oweibo, on Thursday, also gave each of the N20 million guarantees to Atiku's son-in-law, Abdullahi Babalele, and Giwa-Osagie.
The court decided that the three defendants must produce one guarantee each in the same amount.

The judge said sureties must be residents in Lagos and must have landed property in the state.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sentenced Babalele on Wednesday to more than $ 140,000 for alleged laundering during the 2019 general election.
