Renowned South African Jazz Legend Thandi Klaasen dies at 86
South African Jazz Legend Thandi Klassen dies at the age of 86 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to a shoemaker and a domestic worker in racially segregated South Africa. Thandi Klassen performed with US stars such as Roberta Flack and Patti Labelle in a career of more than 50 years.
As expected, South Africans have been paying tribute to the national icon described by President Jacob Zuma as ä role model to many of our youth and upcoming musicians"
During her life time, she was credited as one of the promoters of cosmopolitan culture in her country of birth.
