Could this be as a result of Recession: MBGN pageant has been cancelled for this year

The annual beauty pageant, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, organised by the Silverbird Group, will not take place this year, 2016. 

According to a source, Silverbird decided to shelf this year's pageant to enable them concentrate on their 30th anniversary taking place next year. Another source claimed that the recession caused sponsors not to participate in this year's pageant.

This is the 3rd time ever that Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria pageant won't take place. One of the times it didn't happen was in 1993 after the chaos in Nigeria following the June 1993 canceled presidential election. Current MBGN 2015 Unoaku Anyadike will reign for two years. recession
