Homeless woman lay dead for hours in McDonald’s

A homeless woman died at her table in McDonald’s - but it took seven hours for anyone to notice.

Horrified workers eventually spotted the lady after she passed away at the restaurant as fellow diners ate their meals just yards away from her body.

Passers-by thought the woman, aged in her 50s, was sleeping when she slumped down.

But an employee who eventually went to check on her in the early hours of the morning discovered she was cold and no longer breathing.

Medics pronounced the woman dead at the scene at the McDonald’s branch in Hong Kong at the weekend.

CCTV footage shows that the woman, who regularly slept at the restaurant, entered the McDonald’s a day before she died.Fast food chief Wendy Lam said they were saddened by the incident at the 24-hour restaurant.

She said: “McDonald’s Hong Kong would like to express our grief over the unfortunate incident at our Ping Shek Estate restaurant.

“We welcome everyone to visit our restaurants any time.

“In order to provide a pleasant dining environment, we would not disturb our customers, but our service will be offered promptly upon request.”
