Prepare to go to jail, Rivers APC tells REC
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Gesila Khan, of blocking the party’s access to relevant electoral materials in its quest to upturn the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Election Petition Tribunal.
It said the action of the REC was capable of obstructing justice.
The party also asked Mrs. Khan to prepare to go to jail for allegedly colluding with the PDP to rig the recent presidential and governorship elections in the state.
The APC said this in a statement by its chairman, Davies Ikanya.
Both elections were won by the PDP in the state.
“In case Mrs. Khan has forgotten, we wish to remind her that there is always a day of reckoning and that it is inescapable,” the APC said. “Since she has chosen to collude with evil men to pervert justice for pecuniary gain, Mrs. Khan should prepare for the inevitable consequences of her actions. Her chosen path can only lead to jail and to monumental disgrace.”
The party said the antics of the REC notwithstanding, it is determined to expose her atrocities and those of her PDP collaborators at the tribunal and ultimately retrieve the mandate which the electorate in Rivers State gave to the APC.
The party said Mrs. Khan should be aware that she shares in the blood-guilt arising from the murder of about 100 of its members by Rivers PDP leaders and their paid agents.
It added, “Of course, these sponsors of violence that populate Rivers PDP should be aware that they must taste the wrath of the law for their acts of infamy in Rivers and must surely spend some years in prison to serve as a lesson to people of their ilk. Where such characters are not duly punished,we will never have a fair and peaceful election in Nigeria.”
The APC also commended the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, for sympathizing with the people of Rivers State on their ordeal during the elections.
“We are eminently proud of the President-elect and we warmly commend him for publicly declaring that his administration will not forgive and will not forget those who perpetrated killings and arson in Rivers State during the elections,” the party said.
