Woman 'broke up with her ex to live with her 16 puppets'

A woman has said she broke up with her fiancé so she could give her puppets the best of everything.

April Brucker, 30, was told by her boyfriend ‘it’s me or the puppets’, and she chose the puppets, which cost her around £14,000 a year.

At one point she dumped the dolls, but says soon after she realised she was ashamed of the decision – concluding they were ‘her children’ so gave him the boot instead.

The singer, model and writer said: ‘Yes, they are expensive, but if they need things, they need things.

‘I will go without clothes for them. I’m a parent – that’s what you do.’

Ms Brucker is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and met her ex in New York. He proposed after their third date, but then things turned sour.

‘Ultimately he felt jealous of the puppets,’ she said.

‘He said, “It’s me or the puppets”. I wanted to be with him, so I stayed with him. But after eight more months, I realised. In the end, my puppet children are all I have.

‘They have never disappointed me. Like men have.’

The money goes on clothes, airfares and hair and she’s been into them since she was 13.

She concluded: ‘My dream is to tour the world with my children. I might not have love with a man but I have 16 children and they need me.’
