Fire breaks out in lift on Great Portland Street... People feared it was in the BBC building


A fire broke out in a building in central London this afternoon.
The blaze was in a lift motor room on Great Portland Street and smoke was visible for miles around.
London Fire Brigade said it received 35 999 calls to the ‘very visible fire’ in Marylebone.
The fire caused traffic chaos around the are while crews tackled the blaze on the building’s roof.
The brigade later clarified that it wasn’t in the BBC building.
